Tropical Ecology Programs in Thailand

Services offered:

  • RSIE led course in tropical ecology with or without independent or group based research projects for participants. Provide field trips to the biomes mentioned below and lectures from current Thai researchers and university faculty.  
  • Facilitation of independent research projects and/or internships in ecology. This option is ideally suited for undergraduate honors thesis research projects.
  • Facilitate faculty led courses for universities. If you wish to run a faculty led tropical ecology course through your own school we can arrange for transportation and lodging, and provide other logistical support along with experienced staff and lecturers in a wide variety of topics in ecology and environmental science.

Locations and Biomes Available for Study

We offer projects at a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Nakhon Rachasima province in northeast Thailand. We also have a research station in a national park on the island of Koh Pha Ngan in the Gulf of Thailand and a mangrove area at a university on the Andaman Sea in southern Thailand. Study sites include housing and access to food.

The above mentioned locations provide access to the following biomes for study or research.

  • Deciduous Dipterocarp Tropical Forests
  • Dry Evergreen Tropical Forest
  • Wet Evergreen Tropical Forest
  • Mangrove
  • Coral Reef

We can also provide access to other biomes of interest at your request. 

RSIE Staff

Our ecology staff includes Thai university faculty, graduate students, and other researchers with decades of experience studying and researching in Thailand. We  have connections to several major Thai universities and Thai university faculty can serve as mentors for individual research projects.

The program fees will include the following:

  • All ground and sea transportation within the Kingdom of Thailand.
  • Lodging in Thailand
  • Excursions to cultural and tourist sites and a beach resort.
  • Entry fees for all parks and excursions will be covered by the program fee to include.

International Travel to Bangkok

Course participants are responsible to pay for their travel to Thailand and back. We request that participants travel with our group during the international leg of the trip. We can all meet at the airport of departure for the international leg. Please book travel with the group through our travel agent to facilitate ticketing as a group.
