Summary:
This immersive study abroad program, designed for premedical students, is based in beautiful Nakhon Rachasima Province in northeast Thailand. Participants will observe doctors at a university medical school hospital (two weeks) and two government hospitals (one week). We will do excursions to cultural and tourist destinations in the Nakhon Rachasima area on weekends. During the fourth week we will travel to a beach resort on the small island of Koh Kood, and stay there for four nights. We will finish up the trip with two nights in Bangkok. The program includes volunteer work at the university medical school and with a large non-governmental organization.
The program fee will cover all ground and sea transportation and lodging in Thailand, medical shadowing fees, travel insurance while in Thailand and approximately 6 large group meals. Students are responsible for all additional meals. Food is extremely affordable in Thailand!
This study abroad program is immersive. Participants will be eating a lot of Thai food and spending a lot of time with Thai people – many of whom do not have good English.
International Travel to Thailand:
Program participants are responsible to pay for their travel to Bangkok, Thailand and back. We request that participants travel with our group during the international leg of the trip but you will purchase your own tickets. We can all meet at the airport of departure for the international leg. Please book travel with the group through our travel agent to facilitate ticketing as a group. One or more of our experienced instructors will travel with the course participants on the international leg of the trip. Transportation from Bangkok to Nakhon Rachasima will be included in the program fee.
