Health and Safety in Thailand

Thailand is a very safe country. Nevertheless is it always possible that health problems arise while overseas and the health and safety of our program participants is the number one priority of our program. The following precautions will be taken during our course.

  1. Program participants will be accompanied by one of our program team leaders at all times. While in Bangkok and other locations students can explore the streets and shops independently but should do so in groups and make use of the buddy system.
  2. The program fee covers the purchase of travel insurance for all participants which will cover any injuries or illness while in Thailand as well as repatriation to the US if necessary. Thailand has an excellent and affordable health care system. Program participants should be prepared to pay for any medical care up front and then be reimbursed by the travel insurance later.
  3. All program participants are required to possess a mobile phone with an international calling plan so that we can communicate with one another. The purchase of an inexpensive Thai cell phone with a pay-as-you-go plan is also acceptable.
  4. For each location we stay at Safe Zone Meeting Places will be designated where we will all know to meet in the event of some kind of emergency (natural disaster, political unrest).
  5. Program participants should report any illness or other health issues to our program team leaders immediately.
  6. Please consult with your personal physician regarding vaccinations for your time in Thailand. The Centers for Disease Control website contains recommendations for which vaccines to get.
